See Wiring Steps for more information. 17. I have installed my White Night light unit and it will not work? NOTE: This is a common problem on Ford and GM vehicles, as they do not install the required fuses or relays for the 12 volt power wire when manufacturing vehicles. So ultimately there is no 12 volt pwer to the 12 volt power terminal on the vehicle's 7-pin trailer wiring plug. How to fix for Ford Vehicles: Look in the vehicle owner's manual for the fuse box and fuse locations. Look for Trailer Tow Battery Charge. There are typically 2 required and usually are not installed during vehicle manufacturing and installation is left up to the owner. Most of the time, the fuses can be found inside the vehicle's glove box. Install them into their designated location. How to fix for GM Vehicles 1999-2006: Raise the hood and remove the fuse box cover from the fuse box located on the driver's side inner fender. On the bottom side of the fuse box cover there is a fuse location diagram. Look for STUD 1, there should be a 40 amp fuse in this location. If it's not installed look in the vehicle's glove box for the fuse, sometimes it is taped to a short wiring pigtail. If you cannot locate it you can pick one up at the auto parts store. Install the fuse into the STUD 1 location. How to fix for GM Vehicles 2007 and newer: On 2007-UP GM Vehicles there are typically 2 things that will need to be done to have 12 volt power on the 12 volt power terminal of the vehicle's 7-pin trailer wiring plug. FIRST: Raise the hood and remove the fuse box cover from the fuse box located on the driver's side inner fender. On the bottom side of the fuse box cover there is a fuse location diagram. Look for STUD 1, there should be a 40 amp fuse in this location. If it's not installed look in the vehicle's glove box for the fuse' sometimes it is taped to a short wiring pigtail. If you cannot locate it you can pick one up at the auto parts store. Install the fuse into the STUD 1 location. SECOND: It is also typical on 2007-UP GM vehicles that there is a wire that will need to be hooked up to the LH stud on the front side of the fuse box under the hood on the driver's side inner fender. (SEE THE ENCLOSED PHOTO). Look around the brake master cylinder for a red wire with a black stripe and a ring terminal. Attach this wire to the LH stud and tighten the nut.
